Living Room Ministry- What is your attitude?

Good Morning, my names Debi and I'm glad you stopped by and spent apart of your day with me. As I read the scriptures this morning two jumped out at me. Hebrews 13: 2 and 1 Peter 4:9.

Hebrews 13:2 says . “ Don't forget to be kind to strangers for some have entertained angels without realizing it. ( TLB) and 1 peter 4:9 says : "Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay for the night." (TLB)

As I read these, I remembered a time in my past when my husband brought home a family who needed food and shelter. It was during thanks giving because they had no where else to go. Later  I remembered a scene in a movie- the title doesn't matter because its the same scene in every movie, a husband brings an unexpected guest home for dinner and expects the wife to accept and welcome them. But  is the husband unthinking , or is it his unselfish heart that steps out offering them a warm meal and maybe a bed for the night?  But the wife in her daily routine and unthinking heart  feels inconvenienced or unprepared finds irritation and unkind words as well as upset words or thoughts toward her husband and may be indifferent to the guest.

But ladies in 1 Peter 4 :9 it says “Be quick to offer a meal or bed and do it cheerfully.

In Mark 10:45 it tells us how we should behave which is Christ's reminder and example to me “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” Should we as Christian woman and wives act different?

What is your attitude today? When your husband comes home are you welcoming as it instructs us to be or do we have a fit albeit minor. Showing a side of ourselves we later feel bad about. Let me leave you with this thought- what if that stranger were Jesus? For it also says that even though we don't know it we often encounter angels.

Lets pray.
Heavenly Father we humbly come before you today asking forgiveness that if we have the attitude of not wanting to be bothered when we encounter an unexpected guest. Father give us a spirit of love as we invite and share if not a warm bed and home we can enjoy a meal with someone in need. Let our hearts and arms be open when you send someone our way to be comforted and encouraged Father we are here to serve and not be served. Let us remember the example that Jesus gave while he was here. And help us to follow it when we are weary and weak ourselves. Thank you father for one more day as we work each day to bring you Glory until the day we are once again rejoined in your presence. We ask these things in Your son Jesus' great name , amen.
